Mechanical Inspection

Motohound fully-qualified mechanics thoroughly check all vehicles following a detailed inspection checklist.

Complete mechanical inspection checklist:

Mechanical

  • Engine Oil and Oil Filter change or replacement and fit lube sticker
  • Fluid top up
  • Replace faulty or damaged constant velocity (CV) rubber boots.
  • Replace faulty or worn constant velocity (CV) joints (excluding cut and weld)
  • Fixing wheel bearings
  • Brake disk skimming
  • Engine and gearbox mounts
  • Replace all leaking or weeping shocks
  • Repair or replacement of all equipment needed to rectify a fault in the SRS or ABS systems
  • Wheel balance when changing tyres
  • Wheel alignments as required by TSDA
  • 4x4 Binding diagnosis i.e., Subaru for compliance
  • Exhaust repairs to be welded or replaced
  • Fuel problems i.e., Fuel pumps and stale fuel, (report only)

Electrical

  • Replace blown main fuses
  • Air bag and ABS fault for compliance
  • Remove Navigation screens and aerials
  • Remove ETC unit and wiring
  • Intermittent electrical faults, (report only)

General

  • Replace snow tyres regardless of condition
  • Check all hub caps
  • Check and replace missing head rests
  • Check and replace missing Jack/tools/spare wheel
  • Check for pollen filters fitted
  • Remove tow hook and replace cover panel
  • Check rear wiper/washer operation or replace if missing wiper arm
  • Check operation of Bonnet and Boot release mechanisms
  • Torque all wheel nuts
  • Fix windscreen chips if failed by TSDA
  • Remove tint
  • Repair or replace windscreen glass as required by the TSDA inspector
  • Remove retro fit navigation and television screens (not including the glued down brackets)
  • Refit radio aerials that have been removed for shipping
  • Undertake any work that may be required for a vehicle to pass an emissions test
  • Minimum tyre depth requirements is 3mm on 100% of tread pattern
